Description

Magnetic properties of UPd2Al3 single crystals have been investigated in static magnetic fields. Detailed measurements of magnetization and magnetic susceptibility have been made up to 26 T for H parallel a. In addition to the metamagnetic transition observed around 18 T by field scanning below 12 K, temperature dependence of magnetization at constant fields below 17 T indicates the second order transition around 14 K. In high magnetic fields, the phase boundary shows a different behavior from that of conventional antiferromagnetic materials. A magnetic phase diagram has been realized. Even in the paramagnetic state, a clear anomaly is observed in the susceptibility above 17 T and a crossover between small and large magnetization regions is found. (author)
