Dreyssena polymorpha population structure in water reservoirs neighbouring the Chernobyl' NPP

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow (Russian Federation). Inst. Obshchej Genetiki

Description

The state of four populations of bivalve molluscs living in the NPP cooling pond is analyzed. Electrophoretic activity of the esterase-D (ES-D) and layaminopeptidase (LAP-2, LAP-1) foe all populations are studied. The data obtained testify to adaptive character of the mollusc population biochemical polymorphism in respect to the LAP-1, LAP-2 and ES-D locuses. The directed shift of separate frequencies for the LAP-2 and ES-D locuses, which is caused by increased temperature effect, but not by radioactive factor, is observed in the Chernobyl' NPP cooling pond
