Alteration of reactor installations (Unit 1 and 2 reactor facilities and spent fuel disposal) in Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station of The Chubu Electric Power Co., Ltd

A report of the Committee on Examination of Reactor Safety to the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan concerning the alterations of reactor installations in Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station of The Chubu Electric Power Co., Ltd. is presented. Their safety was confirmed. The alterations are as follows. For disposal of radioactive solid wastes (from both Unit 1 and 2): the capacity of the solid waste storage is increased; tanks storing powder resin in condensate system are installed; a miscellaneous solid waste storage is installed; an incinerator burning miscellaneous combustible solid wastes is installed; and a site bunker for storing spent in-core structures is installed. In the condensate desalting equipment (for Unit 2), a filtration desalting system is installed. In the reactor containment facility (Unit 1), a system for controlling inflammable gas concentration is installed. (Mori, K.)
