A neutron depolarization study of magnetic inhomogeneities in weak-link superconductors

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad (Russian Federation). Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

Neutron depolarization measurements in the mixed state of both high-Tc and low-Tc weak-link superconductors have been carried out. Samples of YBCO, BSCCO, SnMo6S8 and 0.5 Nb-0.5 Ti of different magnetic prehistory were analyzed at temperatures T 4.2 K under applied magnetic fields II <= 16.5 kOe. We ascribe the appearance of magnetic inhomogeneities and their hysteresis behaviour to the interaction between dipole magnetic fields (diamagnetic and paramagnetic ones) and applied magnetic fields
