Investigation of ionizing radiation effect on metal nitridation

Description
The comparison of kinetics of nitridation of Mg, Al, Ge, Zr, Ta, W, Fe metalpowders performed in indentical conditions, but in one case without ionizing radiation, and in the other - in the field of ionizing radiation. It has been found that γ-radiation accelerates Mg, Ta and W nitridation reactions and inhibits the Zr nitridation reaction. An athempt is made to evaluate the mechanism of revealed radiation effects in nitridation reactions of metals
