Description
The characteristics of integrated nuclear energy systems based on fission and breeding processes augmented by fusion and spallation reactions are presented. It is shown that a judicious integration of distinct nuclear reactions possesses several interesting features which combine to provide new options. Among these are: (1) expanded base for energy production, (2) increased nuclear fuel breeding capacity, (3) new possibilities for nuclear waste management and (4) enhanced base for the development of fusion energy systems. Abstract (German)
