The Stark effect in intense field for the Rydberg states
Description
The Stark shifts and widths of atomic states in an intense electric field E are calculated up to n4E ∼ 1. Two independent calculation methods are used: summation of perturbation series and 1/n-expansion. The scaling relations for nearthreshold Stark resonances with quantum numbers n1 ∼ n >> 1, n2 and m ∼ 1 are obtained which are in a good agreement with available experimental data for hydrogen, sodium and rubidium. 29 refs.; 7 figs.; 3 tabs
