Effects of the March 1989 solar activity

Description
Two weeks of intense solar activity which produced an historically great magnetic storm occurred in March 1989. Here, the observed effects of that activity are described, including the injection of energetic particles to geostationary orbit, the extreme magnetospheric compression, the cosmic ray penetration, radiation belt precipitation, geomagnetic storms and substorms, and extremely large auroral zone, and radio aurorae that resulted from the activity are reviewed. The effects of the activity on technological systems on earth and in space are addressed
