Simultaneous ion-chromatographic determination of alkali and alkaline-earth metals: use of a cation exchanger with bonded diaminocarboxylic groups

Description
The chromatographic behaviour of alkali and alkaline-earth metals on a column packed with silica with attached lysine groups was studied with the use of dilute solutions of perchloric acid as eluants and indirect conductometric detection. The optimum separation of alkali and alkaline-earth metal cations is obtained when a 3x10-3 M solution of perchloric acid was used as a mobile phase. The developed procedure was used to analyze several samples of water from a water supply line and a well. Refs. 11, figs. 2, tabs. 3
