Radiation effects in window materials for ITER diagnostics

  • 1. RRC 'Kurchatov Institute', Kurchatov Sq. 1, 123182 Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Irradiation tests of silica glasses under ITER relevant conditions are shortly overviewed. It is shown that pure silica can be used as material for ITER optical diagnostic windows in the spectral region of 350-2500 nm. The estimation is done for KU-1 silica transparency degradation during ITER operation. Specific aspects of radiation effects in window materials for ITER are discussed. The possibility of transparency recovery of silica glass by thermo-annealing is considered.
