Finiteness and the type I superstring
Description
The one-loop divergences in scattering amplitudes involving an arbitrary number of external gravitons, dilatons and gauge bosons are exhibited and shown to cancel in the type I superstring with gauge group O(32). The analysis is performed in the Polyakov path integral approach in which the divergences can be clearly identified. (orig.)
