Description

The level structure of 124Cs was investigated by analyzing the γ-γ coincidence data collected earlier at CIAE through the 116Sn(11B,3n)124Cs reaction at a beam energy of 45 MeV. The previously reported positive parity partner bands were extended, and the B(M1)/B(E2) and B(M1)in/B(M1)out ratios for the two bands were extracted. The properties of the two bands fit well the chiral features in the region of 14-16 ℎ. Ten E1 transitions between the two bands with configuration of πh11/2 direct x νh11/2 and h11/2 direct x νd5/2 suggests the octupole correlation in 124Cs, and the B(E1)/B(E2) ratios and the B(E1) were extracted and estimated. No similar E1 transitions linking the positive side band were observed, suggesting slight different structure in the candidate of chiral doublet bands in 124Cs. A high K band was established, and its configuration was assigned as πg9/2 direct x νh11/2. Two new transitions were added to the decay path of the previously known 7+, 6.3 s isomer in 124Cs, and its excitation energy was raised by 79 keV. (authors)
