Inner valent molecular orbitals and structure of X-ray O4.5(U)-emission uranium spectra in oxides UO2 and γ-UO3

Description

Uranium emission spectra with high resolution are obtained for the first time in UO2 dioxide and γ-UO3 trioxide. The fact that U6p-level in uranium compounds is not the basic one and takes and active part in formation of inner valency molecular orbitals (IVMO) was taken into account by interpretation of the spectra obtained. The structure of X-ray O4.5(U) emission spectra of uranium dioxide and trioxide essentially differ and may be identified only with an account of IVMO. 5 refs.; 2 figs
