Mass reflection for studying interaction between laser light and molecules in a supersonic gas jet
- 1. A. F. Ioffe Physicotechnical Institute, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Leningrad
Description
Results are reported for a mass reflection time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer designed to study the interaction of intense laser light with molecules cooled in an impulsive supersonic gasdynamic jet. Two new designs are suggested for electron impact ion sources. The resolution of the mass spectrometer is equal to 1000 (at the base of the mass peaks), and argon partial pressures as low as 10-9 torr can be detected in the ion source
