Description
A brief review on the history, current state and design of /sup 99m/Tc-radiopharmaceuticals is given. The short-lived /sup 99m/Tc (physical half-life 6 hours, ideal radiation characteristics) is the most outstanding radionuclide used in nuclear medicine diagnostics. More than 50% of all in vivo examinations are performed with /sup 99m/Tc. The increasing use of /sup 99m/Tc has been tied in with the achievements attained in chemistry and the radiopharmacology of /sup 99m/Tc-compounds and with the introduction of kits for ready-to-use preparations.
