Description

This Act enables implementation in Finland of the Convention on the Protection of Marine Environment of the Baltic Sea, 1974 (the so-called Helsinki Convention) and the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of wastes and Other Matter, 1972 (the so-called London Convention). The Act prohibits the dumping of any high-level radioactive waste or matter. A prior permit is required for dumping lower level waste or matter. (NEA)

Abstract (French)

La presente Loi a pour objet de permettre la mise en oeuvre par la Finlande de la Convention de 1974 sur la protection de l'environnement dans la Mer Baltique (Convention d'Helsinki) ainsi que de la Convention de 1972 sur la prevention de la pollution des mers resultant de l'immersion des dechets et d'autres matieres (Convention de Londres). La presente Loi interdit le rejet de toutes matieres fortement radioactives. Un permis prealable est exige pour le rejet des matieres ou dechets radioactifs de plus faible radioactivite
