Description
Steels of different classes have been investigated to reveal their performance while contacting nitrogen oxides of various composition. The behaviour of pearlitic steels in the aggressive medium of nitrogen oxides under load was of main interest, in particular, that of steel-15KH2NMFA. The steels used for investigation were in two states: a thermally improved state and a hardened one. The results revealed that steel-15KH2NMFA in a thermically improved state had shown corrosive cracking resistance in the nitrogen oxide medium at the temperatures of 150 and 200 deg C. The threshold values of a stress intensity factor for a hardened steel in the same medium falls off to 7-15 MPa·m0.5
