Description

The results of experimental investigation and analysis of dynamics, space-time structure and emission properties in the 2-350 eV quantum energy range of the open (vacuum) heavy-current plasmodynamic discharges of ''plasma focus'' type are presented. The technique of complex investigation of radiation properties of heavy-current radiating discharges in the region of spectrum from the visible to the far vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) one. It is shown that the emission spectrum of ''plasma focus'' type is quite different from the Plank spectrum and is due mainly to the recombination continuum of typical ion groups determining the plasma composition at the given temperature and density, 70-90% of the emitted energy falls on the VUV spectrum region. Possibilities of effective control of emission spectrum in the wide quantum in the wide quantum energy range (effect of hypersound flow macrostructure, chemical composition, etc. ) and attainments of high brightness in VUV are considered. For the first time in the region beyond the helium ionization potential brightness temperatures exceeding 5 eV are attained
