Electrochemical reduction (oxidation) rate of berkelium ions in aqueous solutions
Description
The kinetics of berkelium(4) electrochemical reduction in aqueous solutions of mineral acids and potassium and sodium carbonates is investigated. It is shown that in mineral acid solutions the berkelium(4) reduction kinetics is described by the first order equation and the contribution of side reactions is negligible. In potassium and sodium carbonate solutions the noticeable contribution is made by berkelium(3) self-oxidation. The effective constants of berkelium(4) electrochemical reduction rate in the investigated solutions are determined
