Research into steel-concrete composite slab structures with surface planar reinforcement

  • 1. Vyzkumny Ustav Pozemnich Staveb, Prague (Czechoslovakia)

Description

A design is envisaged for special building structures of nuclear power plants with WWER-1000 reactors, consisting in a steel-concrete slab structure with a surface planar reinforcement. This requires reliable anchoring of the lining with bonding elements transmitting longitudinal shear force to the concrete part of the cross section. Some results are discussed of experimental testing of different types of girders with surface planar reinforcement. The results showed that the surface planar reinforcement combined with the concrete part of the girder is equivalent to classical reinforcement with respect to deflection and load-carrying capacity. Crack propagation shows more favourable parameters for classical reinforced structures; however, in girders with a surface planar reinforcement the crack width does not exceed undesirable values and the concrete is protected by the surface planar reinforcement, i.e., the lining.
