Ion exchange separation and alpha-spectrometric determination of americium-241

Description
Separation of 241Am from solutions containing americium and also from solutions containing americium along with other heavy elements viz. Np, Pu, etc. have been studied using ion-exchange procedure. Methods for the determination of trace quantities of Am after radiochemical separations are also described. Particular efforts have been devoted to find out suitable loading and eluting solution involved in ion-exchange for maximum recovery of the nuclide at room temperature. Percentage recovery achieved at different variation is reported. (author). 8 refs., 1 fig., 1 tab
