Gravitational waves emitted by a spinning, magnetized blob of homogeneous, post-Newtonian gravitating fluid
Description
The angular distribution and total intensity of gravitational radiation are calculated for a rapidly rotating, homogeneous, gravitating fluid body rendered asymmetric by magnetic stresses. General-relativity effects are included in the post-Newtonian approximation. Two frequencies, 2ω and ω, will occur in the gravitational spectrum at 2ω, the intensity will peak sharply near the bifurcation point. Monochromatic gravitational radiation from pulsars might be detectable by resonance antennas, furnishing information on the internal magnetic fields of neutron stars. The influence of the gravitational radiation on the evolution of the pulsars is assessed
