Backgrounds to pp-solar neutrinos in CLEAN

  • 1. Yale University (United States)

Description

Full text of publication follows: The poster will show a possible photomultiplier tube (PMT) layout for a 50 tonne liquid neon detector and will present results on simulation of gamma backgrounds from U/Th/K in the glass of the PMTs. In addition I will discuss the light yield and position reconstruction power of such a detector. I will discuss the backgrounds inside a fiducial volume of approximately 10 tonnes and the projected sensitivity to pp solar neutrinos. The poster may also contain results on pulse shape discrimination power and nuclear recoil scintillation efficiency from a prototype liquid neon detector with implications for a possible WIMP search in CLEAN.
