Photoemission properties of the Au-, SnCd- and Li-electrodes in propylene carbonate solutions

Description
Photoelectrochemical behavior of electrodes made of SnCd alloy (20% Cd) and lithium in 1M lithium perchlorate solution in polypropylene carbonate, as well as influence of lithium intercalation into SnCd alloy on photoeffect characteristics, have been studied. Dependences of photoemission current on potential and energy of the light quantum are considered. It has been ascertained that illumination gives rise to electron photoemission from the metal to solution, moreover, the work function does not depend on the metal nature and equals 0.7±0.05 eV at equilibrium potential of Li/Li+ electrode. Electrochemical interaction of lithium into SnCd alloy involves a change in the mechanism of electrode photoprocesses
Abstract (Russian)
Изучено фотоэлектрохимическое поведение электродов из сплава SnCd (20% Cd) и лития в 1М растворе перхлората лития в пропиленкарбонате, а также влияние внедрения лития в сплав SnCd на характеристики фотоэффекта. Исследованы зависимости фотоэмиссионного тока от потенциала и энергии кванта света. Установлено, что при освещении имеет место фотоэмиссия электронов из металла в раствор, причем работа выхода не зависит от природы металла и равна 0,7±0,05 эВ при равновесном потенциале Li/Li+ - электрода.
