Narrowing of nonuniform NQR lines by means of high-frequency field pulses

  • 1. AN SSSR, Kazan. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

Theoretical investigation of methods of eliminating the inhomogeneous width of lines of nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) is considered. The hamiltonian of the spin-system under investigation involves the interactions responsible for the inhomogeneous width of lines. The inhomogeneous width of the NQR lines has been shown to be conditioned by spread in the values and directions of the electric field gradient on quadrupole nuclei. It is also shown that the use of resonance RF fields leads to complete suppression of the inhomogeneous width of the NQR lines. This method is adequate only for systems with a half-integral spin. Application of multipulse sequences completely eliminates inhomogeneity of the NQR line width and increases essentially the resolution of the NQR pulse methods
