Correction procedures using influence coefficients in X-ray fluorescence spectrometry

Description
The concept underlying the use of influence coefficients to correct for matrix effects in quantitative X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis is examined. Analysts have the option of computing the value of the influence coefficient quantifying the effect of any one element on the emitted intensity of the analyte: explicity from theoretical principles; semi-empirically by approximations of the above, and empirically from regression of experimental data.
