Progress of negative ion measurements and understanding of negative ion transport

Description

The authors introduced measurement devices related with negative ions into the vicinity of the negative ion generation region of the surface-generated hydrogen negative ion source, and experimentally verified the transport phenomenon from generation up to extraction of negative ions. The hydrogen negative ions generated on the surface of the plasma grid (PG) are uniformly distributed in the extraction region between PG and the filter magnetic field, and they form ionic plasma composed of H+ and H- due to a drastic decrease in electron density following an increase in hydrogen negative ion density. In ionic plasma, it was confirmed that the potential distribution of the plasma was strongly influenced by the potential of adjacent metal surfaces. It was also clarified that the Hα light emitted from the ionic plasma strongly depends on the mutual neutralization reaction of H+ and H-, and based on their two-dimensional distribution measurement, the negative ion reduction region associated with beam extraction was clarified. In addition, from the negative ion flow distribution using the laser-assisted photo-detachment method, it was confirmed that the negative ions generated on the surface are diffused in the direction of the magnetic field lines of the electron deflection magnetic field, and transported to negative ion PG by turning to the PG direction at the position around 20 mm from PG. Abstract (Japanese)

表面生成型水素負イオン源の負イオン生成領域近傍に負イオンに関する計測装置を導入し,負イオンの生成から引き出しに至る輸送現象を実験的に検証した.プラズマ電極(PG)表面で生成された水素負イオンはフィルター磁場との間の引出領域に均一に分布し,水素負イオン密度の上昇に従い電子密度が激減することでH+とH-で構成されるイオン性プラズマを形成している.イオン性プラズマではプラズマの電位分布は近接する金属表面の電位に強く影響されることが確かめられた.イオン性プラズマから放射されるHα光はH+とH-相互中性化反応に強く依存し,その2次元分布計測を基にビーム引き出しに伴う負イオンの減少領域が明らかになった.またレーザー支援型光脱離法を用いた負イオンのフロー分布から,表面で生成された負イオンは電子偏向磁場の磁力線方向に拡散しプラズマ電極から約20 mm 付近でPG 方向へ転向することで負イオンPGに輸送されることが確かめられた.(著者)
