Development of the standby system management system for BWR power plants

Description
To keep the plant set up against disturbance is an important role of the operators. The standby system management system (SSMS) was developed to support this operator's role. In order to achieve this purpose, the SSMS has the following two functions. The first function is to monitor the standby systems status periodically by applying the predetermined fault trees to the plant process data. The second function is to provide the surveillance tests procedures through the color cathode ray tube (CRT) and to store the test results in a database. These data are used as inputs to the first function to assess the functionabilities of the standby systems. This paper describes the SSMS system design, the color CRT-based new man-machine interface and the SSMS evaluation tests. (author)
