Patient dose with whole-body computer tomography

Description
The radiation doses in the whole-body computer tomography for brain, lungs, liver and kidney investigations were measured by means of LiF-TLD in the Alderson phantom. With a single-layer image of the trunk (filtration 6 mm aluminium) dose values of 1.2 rd were found for the skin on the entering side and of 90 mrd on the exiting side. Using a close-to-reality investigating technique of, e.g., 5 layers next to each other in the upper stomach, one gets maximum tissue doses at the entering side of 1.8 rd, in the body axis of 700 mrd and at the exiting side of 230 mrd. The gonadal doses are smaller than 2-4 mrd when the body cross-section last investigated is at a distance of more than 15 cm from the gonads. (orig./ORU)

Mit Hilfe von LiF-TLD wurden im Alderson-Phantom die Strahlendosen bei der Ganzkoerper-Computer-Tomographie fuer Hirn-, Lungen-, Leber- und Nierenuntersuchungen gemessen. Als Dosiswerte wurden bei einer Einschichtaufnahme des Rumpfes fuer die Haut (Filterung 6 mm Aluminium) auf der Eintrittsseite 1,2 rd und auf der Austrittsseite 90 mrd gefunden. Bei einer wirklichkeitsnahen Untersuchungstechnik von z.B. 5 nebeneinanderliegenden Schichten im Oberbauch kommt man zu maximalen Gewebedosen nahe der Eintrittsseite von 1,8 rd, in der Koerperachse von 700 mrd und nahe der Austrittsseite von 250 mrd. Die Gonadendosen sind dabei kleiner als 2-4 mrd, wenn der letzte untersuchte Koerperquerschnitt mehr als 15 cm von den Gonaden entfernt liegt. (orig./ORU)
