Cross sections for nuclear reactions induced by high energy alpha particles and the influence of interstellar helium in cosmic ray propagation
Description
Cross sections have been measured for a number of nuclides produced in the bombardement of C, O, Mg, Si, Fe and Ni targets by 2.8 and 4.6GeV alpha particles. The results (the first for alphas of more than 230 MeV/nucleon) are interpreted in terms of the effect of about 10% interstellar He abundance on the production of secondary nuclei during propagation
