Verification experiment of dam breaking simulation

  • 1. Kyoto University, Department of Nuclear Engineering, Kyoto (Japan)

Description

Dam breaking simulation is one of the analyses to evaluate the validity of numerical analytical approaches. This problem is a simple system of breaking dam in gravity, but it is often chosen to evaluate many numerical analytical approaches for gas-liquid two-phase flow because it is a gas-liquid two-phase flow which has significantly moving inter interface. Today, however, there are a few detailed experimental data (Martin J.C. and Moyce W.J., 1952). Thus in this study, dam breaking experiments were conducted in order to establish the database of dam breaking problem by using high-speed video camera. (author)
