Melting of tritium-contaminated metal

Description
Under this research project the melting of tritium-contaminated steel is studied in order to prove that even this material can be recycled. The paper deals first with the background of the project. Then the preliminary tests performed at the NIS laboratory to try the planned measurement technique, and the melting compaign at the CARLA hall of the Siempelkamp foundry are presented. The paper concludes with an assessment of the results achieved and gives an outlok on the further procedure. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Im Forschungsvorhaben wird das Schmelzen von tritiumkontaminiertem Stahl untersucht, um nachzuweisen, dass auch dieses Material in den Rohstoffkreislauf zurueckgefuehrt werden kann. Im Vortrag wird zunaechst auf die Hintergruende des Vorhabens eingegangen. Danach werden die durchgefuehrten Vorversuche im Labor der NIS zur Erprobung der vorgesehenen Messtechnik und die Schmelzkampagne in der CARLA-Halle der Giesserei Siempelkamp dargestellt. Der Bericht schliesst mit der Bewertung der Ergebnisse und einem Ausblick auf die weitere Vorgehensweise. (orig./HP)Additional details
