Description

In this paper eight lanthanide complexes of benzo-15-crown-5 and dibenqo-18-crown-6 were synthesized. The 3d/sub 5/2/ spectra and satellites of Ln(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ . C/sub 14/H/sub 20/O/sub 5/ and Ln(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ . C/sub 20/H/sub 24/O/sub 6/ (Ln=La-Nd) are discussed. The electronic structural characteristic of rear earth elements and changes in covalency in the complexes are also considered. The 3d/sub 5/2/ spectra for Ln(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ . XH/sub 2/O (Ln=La-Nd) are observed in order to explain the changes in electronic structure in the complexing process. The X-ray photoelectron spectra were obtained with a Kratos Aei Es-300 photoelectron spectrometer by using Mf Kα exciting radiation (hν=1253.6eV)
