Description

In order to properly use ionizing radiation is important to characterize it, for this purpose a spectrometric system is used. The objective of this manuscript is to design, build and evaluate the performance of two intellectual property cores (multichannel analyzer and nuclear pulse generator) and its associated virtual instrument, integrated into a spectrometer for ionizing radiation. The components of the intellectual property cores were created in VHDL hardware description language and packaged in the Vivado design suite of Xilinx and the virtual instrument was developed in the graphic programming platform LabVIEW. This work is divided into 3 sections, the first section addresses the description of the hardware architecture of the two intellectual property core to be embedded in the FPGA, the second section contains the application programming for the Arm processor and the third comprises the development of the virtual instrument for the management, control and visualization of the results, in which the spectrum can be softened, peaks can be found, areas under the curve can be calculated, reports can be generated and spectra open and stored, in the case of the multichannel analyzer and manipulate the forms, amplitude and period of the pulses in the case of the nuclear pulse generator.
