Determination of 210Po in water

Description

The determination of 210Po in water samples was carried out by using of 208Po tracer with the aid of alpha spectrometry. Adding 208Po tracer to water samples before preliminary preparation, the 210Po and were co-precipitated with iron hydroxide. The polonium were auto-deposited on silver disc by advantage of its high selectiveness in 0.5 mol/L hydrochloric acid solution. The sample source was counted for 60 hours in alpha spectrometry system. The determination of 210Po activity was performed according to different spectra. In addition, the article discusses the differences of the present analytical method and the national standards, EML and IAEA methods. (authors)
