Description

Patients with nontraumatic spontaneous intracerebral hematoma (ICH) seem to recover faster than patients who suffered an acute ischemic infarction (AII). To determine whether this clinical opinion can be proved statistically, patients were examined clinically and their deficits rated according to a standardized scoring system. The influence the diagnosis has on the type and severity of the neurologic deficits, on the global (gCMRGLu) and regional cerebral glucose metabolism (rCMRGlu), and on the extent of the remote depression was investigated. Furthermore, the correlation of neurologic deficit with regional glucose metabolism was studied. 4 refs.; 2 figs.; 3 tabs
