Complexes of rare earth bromides with hexamethylphosphorotriamide

Description
Complexes of rare earth element (REE) bromides with hexamethylphosphorustriamide (NMPA) have been synthesized with LnBr3x4HMPA (Ln is La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) composition. As evidenced by infrared spectroscopy, the species contain no water; HMPA adjoins the central atom through the P=O group oxygen. Difractograms of the compounds have been recorded. Solubility of the complexes in HMPA at 25+-3degC has been determined and its dependence on Br- concentration studied. From the data obtained a structure of the compounds is suggested
