Observation of personnel exposures in a nuclear science and technology oriented university

  • 1. National Tsing Hua Univ., Hsinchu, Taiwan (China)

Description

Observation of the personnel exposure to ionizing radiation in a university with emphasis on nuclear science and technology during the past 24 years is analyzed and discussed. Three distinct periods may be visualized as the beginning period in the 60s, the developing period in the 70s, and the developed period in the 80s. The increase in the number of monitored personnel and the decrease in the per caput dose equivalents marks the end of the beginning period and the start of the developing period, while the developed period began after the two units of the first nuclear power station became commercial operation. The correlation of the personnel exposures at the university and the three periods mentioned above is described. (author)
