Dependence of the electrical resistivity of low-alkali borosilicate glasses on their composition

Description

This paper presents some results of a study of the effect of a series of oxides on the value of T /SUB k/ -100 and the electrical resistance of high-silica low-alkali borosilicate glasses similar in composition to 81SiO2.17.5B2O3.1.5Me2O. With the aim of obtaining reliable data on the effect of the chemical composition of the above glasses on their electrical resistance, the authors melted and studied several series of glasses including glasses containing only potassium as the alkali component; glasses with mixed alkali; glasses of the potassium group with a small concentration of MeO oxides; and glasses of the potassium group and mixed alkali glasses containing up to 1% of Al2O3. The compositions of the experimental glass (by synthesis) and some data on their conductivity are presented
