Results on W/Z physics from CDF
Description
We present a preliminary measurement of the cross section for the production and subsequent decay of W → eνe in 1.8 TeV anti pp collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. An analysis of events with missing transverse energy greater than 25 GeV and with an electron of transverse energy ET > 15 GeV from a data sample of 25.3 nb-1 gives σW . B(W → eνe) = 2 . 6±0.6 ± 0.5 nb, in good agreement with theoretical predictions. A preliminary measurement of the W mass is also obtained from these data, MW = 80.0±3.3 (stat.)±2.4 (syst.) GeV/c2.
