Compensating for background of secondary electrons in electron spectroscopy

Description
The background slope in records of electron spectra due to true secondary electrons can be eliminated by adding harmonic signals at frequencies ω and 2ω. Then a superposition of the first and second derivatives of the signal is detected at 2ω, and the background slope can be eliminated by selecting the amplitudes and phases of the modulation signals
