Description

Ultrasonic cavitation is one of the most promising way of treatment of liquid effluents which has already shown interesting results especially when it is coupled with catalysts. This technique is an inspiration to develop the innovative shock-induced cavitation reactor which generates cavitation by a mechanical impact on the surface of a liquid. The most appropriate model to describe this phenomenon is the Water Hammer in which the Joukovsky's relation is verified. Cavitation bubbles also produce free radical species which is efficient to degrade organic compounds. The comparison of both techniques has permitted to develop the shock induced cavitation reactor for de-polluting nuclear water. (authors)
