Description
The 40Ar(3He,d) reaction, at 18 MeV 3He energy, has been used to study states in 41K that are unbound to proton emission. The 40Ar target was contained in a gas cell with no entrance window. Excitation energies and angular distributions were obtained for levels from E/subx/=7.836 to 10.239 MeV. A distorted-wave analysis was used to determine l values and to extract widths GAMMA/subp/ for comparison with the results of previous 40Ar(p,p) work. The analog of the ground state of 41Ar, at 8.349 MeV excitation in 41K, and six excited-state analogs were observed
