Effect of deviations of rods in radial flow from equilibrium positions on the hydrodynamic excitation of vibrations

Description

The experimental investigation results of rod element vibrations in liquid cross flow under restricted conditions are presented. Restricted conditions were provided by the stiff cylindrical channel with longitudinal slits for the flow inlet and outlet. Experimental section geometry simulated conditions of liquid cross flow in tubal bundle. It is shown, that vibrations excitation character by liquid flow, rod vibrations amplitude, vibrations hydrodynamic damping depend essentially on rod position in the channel. It is determined, that rod vibrations with inadmissibly large amplitude, restricted by channel sides, may occur witn coolant flow rate which is essentially lower, than values obtained by available calculated relationships
