  • 1. Tokyo Univ. (Japan). Research Center for Nuclear Science and Technology

Description

Results of the questionnaire to collect fundamental data for consideration and application of ICRP recommendation in the future Japanese law were presented. The questionnaire was performed in 1994 for 25 radiation handling facilities of Tokyo University in order to know their present status and problem when the recommendation is to be applied in the law. Replies were obtained from 22 facilities (88%). The questionnaire involved the class of the radiation facility, assessment of radiation at the application of the facility to Science and Technology Agency, present status of radiation utilization and of monitoring results, opinions for lowering the dose limit, and scale of the facility, and authority and discretion of the person responsible for radiation handling. As a result, the present status of the facilities was shown with data, in which the difference between the initial radiation assessment at the application and the actual monitoring results was thought to be of particular meaning. The data would be useful for discussion for application of ICRP 1990 recommendation in the law. (K.H.)
