Pulmonary - sup(99m)Tc - sulphur colloid uptake during liver scintigraphy

On the basis of 5 cases the authors discuss modern views on the uptake of sup(99m)Tc-labelled colloidal sulphur by the lungs during scintigraphy of the liver. Liver scintigraphy was done using a Jumbo-Toshiba gamma camera and scintiscans were analysed quantitatively by means of Simis-3 (Informatek - France) transformation system. The cause of pulmonary uptake of this agent were probably changes in the size of colloid particles occurring in vivo, as well as their active uptake by the elements of the reticuloendothelial system in the lungs.
