Description

Optical properties of lutetium monocrystal in the 0.4-9 eV spectral range are studied. The effect of crystal anisotropy on dispersion of the optical properties is found. Using the LCAO relativistic method, the self-consistent calculation of the lutetium energy-band structure is carried out. In the approximation of the constant matrix element of the transition probability optical interband conductivity is calculated. It is shown that the nature of the observed peculiarities of optical absorption finds its satisfactory explanation within the framework of the calculations of the electron energy spectrum of lutetium
