Development and testing of phantoms for quality control of nuclear magnetic resonance tomographs. Final report. General part
Description
A diagram is given showing the phantom development and testing programme and the various steps taken. It would be desirable to have a universal phantom at hand, but the very specific measuring tasks to be performed require different test specimens to be used. These have to take into account both the characteristic features of the various measuring methods, and the use of nuclei other than protons for imaging and spectroscopy. Apart from test specimens and the measuring sequences supplied by the equipment manufacturer, specific methods for imaging and localised spectroscopy are required in order to extract the desired information from the very complex body of data resulting from the measurements which are influenced by the equipment itself, the measuring technique applied, and the phantoms. In einer schematischen Uebersicht werden das Gesamtprogramm und die Einzelbereiche, in die sich das Vorhaben aufgliedert, gezeigt. Grundsaetzlich waere ein Universalphantom wuenschenswert, jedoch erfordert die Anpassung an eine konkrete Messsituation die Entwicklung sehr verschiedenartiger Pruefkoerper. Es muessen dazu sowohl die charakteristischen Merkmale der einzelnen Messmethoden beruecksichtigt, als auch Abbildung und Spektroskopie mit anderen Kernen als Protonen vorgesehen werden. Neben geeigneten Pruefkoerpern und den vom Hersteller zur Verfuegung gestellten Messsequenzen sind spezielle Verfahren zur Bildgebung und lokalisierten Spektroskopie notwendig, um die gewuenschten Informationen aus dem aeusserst komplizierten Zusammenhang zwischen apparativen, messtechnischen und den durch die Probe bedingten Einfluessen zu extrahieren.
