Effect of Soybean seed irradiation on soluble proteins patterns using electrophoretic technique

Description
Changes in soybean proteins after seeds irradiation of gamma rays 60Co with various doses of 5,10, 20,30, 40, 50, 80 and 100 Gy were investigated. The proteins of the seeds were analyzed by SDS-PAGE electrophoresis technique. The results cleared that high doses of gamma irradiation caused a decrease or increase in protein bands which was ranged between 10 and 17 bands as compared to 13 bands of the control group. While, the seeds treated with 40 Gy were found to contain a total of 17 protein bands ranged between 5.51 and 74.25 KDa, and can be characterized by the presence of 5 new protein bands with M.W. of 60.60, 16.52, 8.77,7.14 and 5.51 KDa. All doses exhibited new protein with M.W. of 16.52 KDa
