Radioprotective effectiveness of mercapto acetamidines and possible biochemical mechanisms fo their effect
Description
A study was made of the radioprotective properties of some mercapto acetamidines, namely: chlorhydrate 2-mercapto acetamidine, dichlorhydrate bis-(2-acetamidino) disulfide and chlorhydrate N-(1-adamantine) 2-mercapto acetamidine. These compounds were all shown to possess a pronounced radioprotective efficiency when administered intraperitonelally and orally. The data are presented on the dynamics of distribution of 35S-mercapto acetamidine among organs and tissues of mice 5, 15, 30, 60 and 120 min after intraperitoneal administration theoreof. To all appearance, the increase in the SH-group content of the spleen plays an essential part in the mechanism of the radioprotective effect of mercapto acetamidine
